Could Sandra Bullock Be Up For Both an Oscar and a Razzie?

Leah Collins

Forget her loads of awards, her bajillions of dollars, her absolutely flawless bone structure: Sandra Bullock is on the verge of true greatness today. If Oscar nomination predictions prove true, Bullock could break ground to become the first person to be simultaneously nominated for both an Oscar and a Razzie, Hollywood's most esteemed and embarrassing honours, respectively. Somebody build this woman a statue, or at least make her a sandwich.

Academy Award nominations aren't announced until tomorrow morning, but the Razzies -- the annual awards-fest that calls out which Hollywood fare deserves to be taunted and booed until our throats are sore -- have beaten them to the punch.

Bullock is up for a worst actress of 2009, thanks to her turn in the comedy All About Steve. Her performance in The Blind Side -- for which she already collected a Golden Globe -- is favoured for an Oscar nomination.

But Bullock's hardly the year's biggest offender, according to the Razzie academy. This year's top (bottom?) nominees are Land of the Lost and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (affectionately referred to as Trannies, Too by awards organizers). Both flicks have earned seven nods each, and will face off for the dubious honour of worst picture of 2009 along with All About Steve, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and Old Dogs.

According to Razzie founder, John Wilson, one movie slipped past consideration for worst picture by a single, glittery hair: New Moon. As he told the L.A. Times, the Twilight sequel received just slightly less votes from Razzie members than the fifth nominated movie. "Twilight: New Moon just wasn't bad enough," Wilson told the paper's Gold Derby blog -- though its stars apparently were. Kristen Stewart "and either Robert Pattinson or Taylor Whatz-His-Fang" are nominated for worst screen couple of 2009, and Pattinson also gets a nod for worst supporting actor. The flick also landed in the worst remake, rip-off or sequel category and worst screenplay.
