It’s hard enough for the American Music Awards to shake their reputation as the red-headed stepchild of awards shows without having to duke it out with prime-time competition like the 24 premiere and the Grey Cup.

But Dick Clark and his pals pulled out the stops – with a whopping 19 performances (the most ever), medleys galore (whether we wanted them or not), and enough pyro to burn down a New Jersey nightclub.
