Hollywood Goes to the Library

Cinematic adaptations of great works of literature are usually met with skepticism. This is understandable, as large chunks of essential character and plot development are often cast aside to fit stories into a popcorn-friendly two-hour format. However, not all is lost. You have to think with all those great stories out there that someone, somewhere would get it right, yeah?

With the recent release of Beowulf (an adaptation of the Anglo-Saxon epic poem) and The Other Boleyn Girl (an adaptation of a historial novel by Philippa Gregory), we take a look at cinematic versions of classic literature and let you know if you should rent the results or just read the original.
