Every year, Hollywood promises that the Oscar telecast will be different from all the rest. Sure, there will be some beautiful dresses, some decidedly hideous dresses, an awkward opening segment, some boring banter between presenters and some inappropriate acceptance speeches – but this time it will all be so much better, they promise!
