Biggest Oscar Nomination Snubs
American Gangster
Considering its solid list of Golden Globe nominations, it was surprising to find American Gangster suffering an almost complete Oscar shutout. It missed out on Best Picture and Ridley Scott missed out on a Best Director nomination. At the very least, we thought Denzel Washington would get a nod for Best Actor but it looks like Tommy Lee Jones (In the Valley of Elah) nabbed that one. Only Ruby Dee will represent the film in any of the “big” categories, with her surprise nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
