Top 10 Superheroes with Traumatic Origins

Being a superhero sounds like a pretty awesome job. You have incredible powers like super strength or the ability to fly, everyone loves you, you look good in tights—it seems like a permanent vacation. Nobody tells you the price, though. Any comic book reader worth their salt knows that to get the glory, you need to go through the origin. Turns out, to be a superhero, you probably need to endure a harrowing life experience that leaves terrible scars on your body, your soul or (most likely) both. In honour of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, we take a look at ten heroes who went through Hell to become the super powered champions we know and love.
